Emerging Professionals Working Group
Purpose:
The purpose of the Emerging Professionals/Careers Working Group is to foster the growth and development of professionals seeking a career in the field of GIS. An emerging professional is any professional who is in the first five years of their career. This includes anyone new to the GIS industry – both recent graduates and those experiencing a career change to GIS.
Objective:
Provide outreach to Emerging Professionals through:
- Conference workshops
- Virtual and in-person events
- Interview preparation

Participation:
At minimum, the working group should include representatives from the following sectors:
- Federal
- State of Maryland
- County
- Regional
- Private
- Academia
- Non profit
Organization and Process:
Monthly meetings take place on the last Friday of the month. Meetings are open to all MSGIC members and can be found on the MSGIC calendar.
